"Jay Louis and His Adventure" teaser!

I was in an ice cream store one summer day trying to decide what I wanted.  I stood in the back of the line and glanced to the side of the room after hearing a few curses.   The was a boy about my age and height.  He was short and skinny and he had a bag over one shoulder.
He saw me watching him.  His eyes gleamed fiercely and the devil himself seemed to look out of them.   I had to look down at his clothing.
He had a gray shirt on with obvious dirt spots.  I looked down at my pink and white shirt and realized mine did too.  But what really worried me about the teenaged guy across the room was his face and I knew I didn’t have that evil look.   He had a nasty frown and dark alarming eyes with thick eyebrows shadowing them. The huge cut on his face was scaring, and it was quite a contrast from his pale face.
He whispered something to a boy sitting next to him about the ice cream.  The other boy had blondish brown hair like mine and looked better cared for.  The two stood up.
“I have everything I need to rob the jewelry store, now let’s go.” Said the dark haired boy.  I held down a gasp inside me and looked at the younger boy.

“I can’t do this.” The younger boy said and he glanced at me half pleadingly, half scared. The grey shirted boy whispered cunningly into his ear and handed the boy a chocolate ice-cream cone.   As they opened the door, something inside me made them follow them.  I couldn’t stop myself.  I had to see what was going to happen and prevent them.  The boy wanted me to come.  I could see it in his eyes.
I should have stayed and ordered my ice cream.   But I don’t know if I had a choice for sovereignty and my will was already made up.
