Thoughts on Sorrow and Joy.

Sometimes life is depressing.  What’s more depressing than the evil around us?  God’s wrath.

In a lot of the Old Testament I've read about lands where men worship idols.  The idols men were worshiping made their hearts even harder than they were toward God.  God told these men to weep and cry because they were all going to be destroyed.  If you feel the urge to cry about sin you should.

I have put my sin off many times. Then later I cried over it because I knew I didn’t hate my sin like I should have.  It’s hard for us humans to realize we need to cry because we tell ourselves we are not as bad as others because we don’t sin as much. But we aren’t supposed to compare ourselves to others.  We are supposed to compare ourselves with God!  God is perfect and holy. Who can stand before him?  Not one.  If you have even sinned once you are black in God’s sight.  This is a deadly peril.

I talked to my cousin, she is chained to sin and I am sure she deals with spiritual warfare.  She wants to change but she almost has no hope.  She said that she had felt like committing suicide.  And she can never forget all the bad things she has done.  I told her you might not be able to forget all of those things but you can let Christ take the guilt and sin away because of his death.  My cousin would cry periodically when she was talking.  I knew that it was good for to cry.
God didn’t make you to hold your sin and suffering inside of you.  She needed to find a place to weep and pour her heart out.  Suffering makes our hearts long for Christ. There were many sinful woman in the bible who were forgiven.  In Luke 7:36-50. a woman came to Jesus and she cleaned his feet with her tears.  Her sins were many but they were forgiven.
The world and the flesh will hurt you.  God will never hurt you out of hate only but out of love.  Psalm 100:5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
And if you are Christian that doesn’t mean you aren’t going to have bad days and think about committing suicide.
  2 Cor 1:8-11
For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life.  Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead,   who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us, you also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the gift granted to us through many.

Remember this world is not our home.  We have a place in heaven for us!  That is our greatest joy.  With that thought we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us while we live down here.

We didn’t come to Christ because we were worthy but because we are unworthy.  This world is evil, and dark, and sick, and the corruption is strong.  It’s okay to cry about it.  You will be strengthened and God will give you courage and character to face the fears and trials that oppress the day.
Trust in God alone.  If your life is broken, trust in him and he will make you rest in green pastures and give you joy

I do this ALL the time. We should be grieved by our sin, as well as the sin of the world; and we should be actively working to stop sin in our lives and in the lives of others.
Good post! Keep it up! :)
